About Us: Leadership Academy of Utah (LAU) is an online charter school serving students across the state of Utah. LAU offices are located in Clearfield, Utah. This position does not require you to live in proximity to the office; many of our team members enjoy working remotely from various locations.
About the Position: This is a remote, part-time position. Candidate must be licensed in Utah. Position begins August 3, 2026 through the end of the school year (May 26, 2027). The responsibilities of this position include:
1. Student Evaluation & Planning
- Conduct evaluations, screenings, and assessments for student motor, sensory, and functional abilities.
- Develop individualized present levels of academic achievement and goals as part of student IEPs.
- Measure student growth through progress monitoring reports.
2. Therapy Services
- Provide regular remote therapy services according to student service times.
- Deliver individual or group services.
- Follow research-based best practices when providing therapy services.
3. Special Education Compliance
- Ensure all student files in their caseload are kept current and compliant with LAU’s USBE-approved Special Education policies and procedure manual.
- Utilize LAU’s IEP management software to write the occupational therapy portion of eligibility and annual IEP documentation for all qualifying students in a timely manner as outlined by state and federal timelines.
- Work cooperatively with all members of the IEP group, including administrators, special education teachers, psychologists, health care professionals, designated instructional service providers, paraeducators, general education teachers, and parents.
- Process and accurately maintain confidential files as required by state and federal laws.
4. Collaborate with Students, Parents, and Teachers
- Work with teachers, parents, and staff on student progress, interventions, and recommendations.
- Integrate strategies into classrooms.
- Provide environmental recommendations.
- Participate in IEP meetings.
5. Other Duties as Assigned
- Attend required Special Education Meetings and track scorecard data.
- Report student attendance and data numbers on the weekly Scorecard.
- Attend all IEP meetings for students requiring occupational therapy support.
- Attend all other required meetings.
Qualifications- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
- Active Utah Occupational Therapy License
- School-based OT knowledge, preferably in a Special Education setting
- Ability to pass a background check
- Strong assessment and documentation skills
- Knowledge of child development and OT practices
- Ability to collaborate and problem-solve
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable working with technology (e.g., Google Workspace, Zoom video conferencing software, etc.)
- Experience in delivering online occupational therapy services is strongly desirable
- A proven professional experience with staff, students, and their families
- Integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment
- Advocacy skills and the ability to work with other staff members to achieve the Special Education team's vision for the school
- Ability to respond effectively to the needs of diverse students and families
- A high degree of flexibility with an aggressive growth mindset
