Syracuse Arts Academy, a well-established charter school located in Syracuse, Utah, is now accepting applications for a Special Education Teacher for the new South Campus for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year
Syracuse Arts Academy provides a challenging, accelerated curriculum where academic excellence, character development, and individual growth are nurtured in a safe, orderly and pleasant environment.
Our Essential Elements program at Syracuse Arts Academy is a special class placement. Students in this class are significantly delayed developmentally and academically. The teacher will be teaching based on the DLM Essential Elements for Core Skills .
Job duties will include, but are not limited to: 1) Develop engaging, interactive lessons and provide individualized and small group instruction based on student’s IEP needs. 2) Implement behavior intervention plans, and provide individualized behavior support as needed. 3) Collect weekly data on task performance, IEP accommodations and IEP goals. 4) Implement classroom management systems. 5)Train, supervise and support paraprofessionals in various classroom aspects, including instruction and behavior management. 6) Assist students with basic self-care tasks as necessary and appropriate. 7) Communicate effectively with general education teachers, related service providers and parents on a regular basis. 8) Adjust, modify and differentiate curriculum and use research-based methods of instruction to suit each student’s needs. 9) Prepare and hold eligibility and IEP meetings in compliance with deadlines. 10) Participate in school wide training and professional development opportunities.
Qualified applicants will have a valid Utah Special Education teaching license. Special Education Severe License is preferred, but Mild/Moderate endorsement may be considered with experience. ARL/Emergency Licensure will also be considered. Candidate must also submit for and pass a background check in accordance with Utah's Department of Public Safety requirements.
