2007 Charter School Facility Finance Landscape
The Educational Facilities Financing Center (EFFC) of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) is pleased to announce publication of the "2007 Charter School Facility Finance Landscape" an updated and expanded mapping survey of public and nonprofit financing programs for charter school facilities across the nation.
With support from the Annie E. Casey Foundation, over a nine-month period the EFFC conducted extensive research and interviews with 150 individuals. The 2007 Landscape includes descriptions of financing products and geographic markets for 25 private nonprofit providers active in the sector and two public-private partnerships in Indianapolis and Massachusetts. Public initiatives are also detailed, including descriptions of two grant programs administered by the U.S. Department of Education, four other financing programs administered by diverse federal agencies and state-level grant, loan and credit enhancement programs in the 41 jurisdictions with a charter law. The report includes all available website and statutory references, with active links in the electronic version.
The 2007 Landscape will serve as a roadmap for individual charter schools as they strive to finance their buildings and as a policy guide for those interested in helping to rationalize the sector and develop more equitable funding for charter school facilities. This publication can be downloaded electronically by clicking here. To request a hard copy of the report, please contact the EFFC at effc@lisc.org.
