Charter school directors and data management staff (SIS) need to be aware of a new board rule:

 R277-484-5C(April 2009 State Board of Education)

Prior to an LEA (charter school or district) acquiring a student information system, replacing an existing student information system, or modifying data elements in its existing student information system, an LEA shall have USOE approval to ensure that the LEA’s new or modified student information system maintains compatibility with UTREx.

UTREx will be required for all LEAs and it is scheduled to be in place by October 2010. We want districts and charters to be aware that vendors need to be compatible with UTREx (eg, SIF compliant).
